Chateau Potensac 2010

Chateau Potensac 2010

Introduction

Produced in the Médoc region on the left bank of the Gironde estuary, the estate has a storied history of being passed down through the women of the family for centuries, a tradition that continued until current owner Jean-Hubert Delon inherited it from his paternal grandmother. Under the same expert management as the prestigious Château Léoville Las Cases, the winery is dedicated to producing wines that reflect their unique limestone and gravel terroir, often being cited as the quintessential 'pure Médoc style'.

Wine Description

The 2010 vintage displays a deep, dark ruby to purple colour with a youthful rim. On the nose, it is refined and complex, offering expressive aromas of blackcurrant, blueberry, and baked cherries layered with notes of cedar, leather, tobacco, and a hint of balsamic. The palate is full-bodied and well-structured, showcasing dense, spicy tannins and a core of ripe black fruits, plum, and cocoa. This blend is composed of 52% Merlot, 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 21% Cabernet Franc, matured for 14 to 16 months in French oak barrels. Stylistically, it is characterized by its remarkable power, fresh acidity, and long finish, with an optimal drinking window extending from now through 2033.
