Chateau Pichon Longueville Baron 2015
Within the prestigious Pauillac appellation of the Médoc region, this wine is the Grand Vin of the historic Château Pichon Longueville Baron. Classified as a Second Growth (2ème Grand Cru Classé) in the 1855 classification, the estate’s history dates back to 1694 when Jacques de Pichon Baron de Longueville married the daughter of Pierre De Rauzan. Under the management of Christian Seely and technical director Jean-René Matignon, the winery follows a philosophy of strict fruit selection, focusing on the oldest vines from historic plots to produce an authentic Pauillac that balances power with refinement.
Wine Description
The 2015 vintage displays an intense, deep garnet-red or purple colour with a near-black core. The nose is expressive and delicate, offering a complex range of summer berries, black cherries, and blueberries, underscored by toasted spiciness, tobacco, and lead pencil shavings. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and concentrated, featuring a precise, refined attack with velvety, well-integrated tannins and a dense, multi-layered texture. Stylistically, it is celebrated for its harmony and impressive balance between ripe fruit and fresh acidity, leading to a long, juicy, and precise finish. Composed of approximately 77% to 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% to 23% Merlot, this wine has an optimal drinking window between 2022 and 2052.
