Chateau Petrus 2020 is a legendary red wine from the Pomerol appellation on the Right Bank of Bordeaux, France. Owned by the Moueix family, the estate is situated at the highest point of the Pomerol plateau, famed for its unique 11.4-hectare vineyard of 40-million-year-old 'blue clay'. The winery follows a philosophy of meticulous manual care and minimal intervention, famously implementing green harvesting to ensure extreme concentration and quality in every berry.

Wine Description

This vintage possesses a deep, limpid purple or garnet-purple colour. The nose is a powerful 'fragrance bomb', erupting with aromas of black raspberries, wild blueberries, and crème de cassis, layered with exotic spices, violets, and a distinct marine influence of oyster shell. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, dense, and concentrated, yet it retains a remarkable 'inner energy' and symmetry. Stylistically, it is lauded for its velvety, fine-grained tannins that provide a massive structure without losing freshness, concluding with an effortlessly long, mineral finish. The varietal composition is 100% Merlot. While youthfully reserved, its optimal drinking window is projected between 2028 and 2070.
