Produced in France, specifically within the Saint Julien appellation of the Left Bank, this wine is the Grand Vin of the historic Château Leoville Las Cases. As one of the oldest Médoc estates, its lineage dates back to the 17th century; it was formed from the historic heart of the original Domaine de Léoville after the estate was divided in the mid-19th century. Managed by the Delon family since the late 19th century, with Jean-Hubert Delon currently acting as sole owner, the winery is renowned for a philosophy of patience and precision, consistently producing wines of First Growth quality and prestige.

Wine Description

The 1999 vintage presents a dense purple or black ruby colour in the glass. Its sophisticated sensory profile offers classic aromas of blackcurrants, cedar wood, and vanilla, intertwined with hints of tobacco, subtle violet, and toasty oak. On the medium to full-bodied palate, the wine unfurls with regal elegance, revealing layers of dark fruit conserves, plum, and a persistent mineral seam. Stylistically, it is celebrated for its extraordinary purity and harmony, featuring a racy, refined tannin structure that has evolved into a velvety texture with age. Composed of approximately 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot, and 19% Cabernet Franc, this wine has entered its plateau of maturity and is expected to provide enjoyment through 2035.
