Chateau Giscours 2019

Chateau Giscours 2019

Château Giscours, a distinguished Third Growth estate in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, is situated in the Margaux appellation of France's Médoc region. With a rich history dating back to the 14th century, the estate has been under Dutch ownership and management, along with its sister property Château du Tertre. The 95 hectares of vineyards are planted with 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot.

The 2019 Château Giscours is a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot. This vintage presents a deep, dark ruby-red color with purple hints at the rim. The nose offers restrained aromas of violet and blackberry. On the palate, it has good freshness and initially displays pure blackcurrant fruit. The mid-palate is closed up by cedary tannins.

Optimal Drinking Window: The 2019 Château Giscours is approachable upon release and can be enjoyed over the next 5 to 7 years, allowing its flavors to develop further with short-term cellaring.

Food Pairing Suggestions: This Margaux pairs beautifully with grilled meats, such as lamb or beef, as well as hearty stews and aged cheeses.
