Chateau De Miniere Tension Chenin Blanc 2024
This vibrant white wine comes from France, specifically the Loire Valley, within the Touraine appellation. Château de Minière is a 16th-century estate that, since 2010, has been owned and operated by a passionate Belgian couple, Kathleen Van den Berghe and her husband. Their philosophy centres on respecting the land and expressing the terroir, committing to organic farming and minimal intervention in the cellar.
The 'Tension' cuvée is made from 100 per cent Chenin Blanc. This wine displays a bright, clear, golden colour. On the nose, it is highly aromatic, featuring notes of citrus, grapefruit, and exotic fruits, with a hint of honey. On the palate, the wine is powerful, mineral-driven, and bone-dry, showing exceptional tension (hence the name) and freshness. It is known for its purity and long-lasting finish. Stylistically, it is a dry, crisp expression of Chenin Blanc, demonstrating great balance and a subtle salty edge derived from the estate's limestone and clay soils. The estate is certified organic.
