Chateau de la Chapelle Blaye 2020

Chateau de la Chapelle Blaye 2020

Chateau de la Chapelle Blaye 2020 originates from France, within the Blaye Cotes de Bordeaux subregion of the larger Bordeaux region. The estate is situated on the slopes above the village of Plassac and has been owned by the Lorteaud family since 1960. The winery maintains approximately 20 hectares of vineyards and follows a philosophy of creating fruity and supple wines that respect the authentic spirit and character of the local terroir.

Wine Description

This red wine presents a beautiful ruby garnet colour in the glass. The sensory profile features an intense and spicy nose with sweet aromas of dark plum, chocolate, and subtle floral hints such as violet and rose. On the medium bodied palate, it is warm, deep, and generous, offering flavours of blackcurrant, blackberry, and cherry with touches of earth, smoke, and pencil shavings. The structure is defined by firm yet coated tannins and a refreshing acidity that leads to a clean, persistent finish. The varietal composition for the 2020 vintage is 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. It has an alcohol content of 13% or 14% depending on the bottling and is aged in stainless steel to preserve fruit purity.

Food Pairing

The supple fruit and traditional structure of this Bordeaux blend make it well suited for a variety of meat centric dishes. Suggested pairings include lamb chops, roast beef, pork cutlets, and shepherd's pie. It also complements beef tartare, truffle tagliatelle, beef stew, and nutty or aged cheeses.
