Chateau Beychevelle 2022

Chateau Beychevelle 2022

Château Beychevelle, a distinguished Fourth Growth estate in the Saint-Julien appellation of Bordeaux, has crafted an exceptional wine in its 2022 vintage. This vintage reflects the estate's commitment to quality and the unique terroir of its vineyards.

Vintage Overview

The 2022 growing season presented challenges, including early frost in April and a particularly dry and warm summer. Despite these conditions, the vineyards benefited from well-timed rainfall in June, which replenished soil moisture and supported vine health. These factors contributed to the development of grapes with concentrated flavors and balanced acidity.

Blend and Production

The 2022 Château Beychevelle is a blend of 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot, and 4% Petit Verdot. The harvest took place from September 12 to September 29, yielding 36 hectoliters per hectare, with 60% of the harvest designated for the Grand Vin. The wine was aged in French oak barrels, enhancing its complexity and structure.

Tasting Notes

  • Appearance: Deep, dark black-purple color, virtually opaque.

  • Aroma: Sweet spices over lifted cassis fruit, with notes of ripe blackcurrant, bramble, and damson.

  • Palate: Silky, fresh, vibrant, and concentrated, with flavors of ripe blackcurrant, bramble, and damson fruit, leading to concentrated licorice and graphite on the mid-palate.

  • Finish: Long and satisfying, delivering a wealth of sweet red and black fruits, creamy textures, and a chalky finish that lingers.
