Chalone Chardonnay 2020
Chalone Chardonnay originates from the Chalone AVA, a unique high elevation mountain plateau in Monterey County, USA. The historic Chalone Vineyard, founded by Dick Graff in 1960 and now under the stewardship of the Foley Family, sits on limestone and decomposed granite soils at the base of an extinct volcano. This rugged terroir, perched 1,800 feet above the Salinas Valley, is dedicated to producing Burgundian style wines that emphasize the site's distinct minerality and bright acidity.
Wine Description
This golden hued Chardonnay presents a complex sensory profile beginning with an aromatic bouquet of lemon curd, mandarin orange, and a touch of toasted brioche. On the palate, the wine is full bodied and honeyed, balancing flavors of lemon-lime and spiced baked apple with subtle notes of peach and pineapple. Its structure is defined by a round mouthfeel and classic Chalone wet rock minerality, which leads to a lifted, dry, and exceptionally long finish.
