Chalk Hill Luna Shiraz 2022
Chalk Hill Luna Shiraz is a vibrant red wine from the McLaren Vale region of South Australia. The Harvey family's grape-growing legacy began in 1839, and today the sixth generation continues this heritage by producing estate-grown, small-batch wines that reflect the unique story of their origin. The Luna series is specifically crafted to embody the warm climate and rich fruit character of the region, emphasizing a plush and approachable winemaking philosophy.
Wine Description
This Shiraz presents a dark ruby appearance with vibrant purple highlights. The bouquet is perfumed and expressive, featuring lifted aromatics of red plum, mulberry, and blueberry combined with notes of violets, white pepper, and heady spice. On the palate, it is medium to full bodied, delivering juicy flavours of blackcurrant, dark cherry preserves, and chocolate. The wine is expertly textured with fine, velvety tannins and a refreshing acidity, finishing with lingering notes of vanilla bean and toasted hazelnuts. To add complexity and fresh acidity, a small volume of Barbera is often included in the blend. It is drinking well now but will reward cellaring for 5 to 7 years.
