Rocca di Frassinello Poggio alla Guardia 2023
Rocca di Frassinello Poggio alla Guardia 2023 is a red wine from Italy, specifically originating from the Maremma Toscana region of Tuscany. The winery is a joint venture established by Paolo Panerai of Castellare di Castellina and Baron Eric de Rothschild of Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite), representing a unique partnership between Italian tradition and French expertise. Designed by world renowned architect Renzo Piano, the state of the art cellar is nestled in an area where vines have flourished for three millennia since the time of the Etruscans.
Wine Description
This expressive Tuscan red presents an intense ruby colour often marked by purple reflections. The aromatic profile is rich and spontaneous, featuring notes of black cherry, plum, and blueberry alongside complex hints of chocolate, Mediterranean herbs, and graphite. On the palate, the wine is medium to full bodied and elegant, delivering a concentrated core of lush red fruit balanced by soft tannins and a refreshing mineral freshness. It is a blend composed of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Sangioveto (Sangiovese), with some variations also including a touch of Syrah. The wine has an alcohol content of 14% ABV and is best enjoyed within an optimal drinking window extending from now through 2028. While the estate follows eco friendly practices, it is not certified organic.
