Introduction

This distinctive white wine hails from Italy, specifically the island of Sicily, in the southeastern province of Siracusa, near the town of Pachino. Cantina Marilina was established in 2007 by Angelo Paternò, a long-time Sicilian winemaking veteran, who purchased 60 hectares of vineyards. The winery is now managed by his daughters, Marilina and Federica, who champion a minimal interventionist and organic winemaking philosophy with absolute respect for the earth.

Wine Description

• Color The wine presents a wonderfully bright, golden yellow hue.

• Aroma On the nose, one finds notes of lemon and acacia. Earlier vintages also featured aromas of green apple, fresh citrus, and a hint of peach.

• Palate This is a balanced and complex white wine, which starts wonderfully dry and crisp on the palate. Notes of bitter almond are apparent, along with a smooth, textural richness. The wine is a pure varietal, made from 100% Grecanico grapes.

• Body and Finish The wine is subtly full-bodied, with a fleshy texture and a persistent finish, featuring saline nuances in some vintages.

• Stylistic Notes Vinification in concrete tanks and a brief period of skin contact (maceration) helps develop this wine's aromatic complexity and lovely texture.
