Annex Lorem Ipsum Amber Ale 355 ml - 24 Cans
Lorem Ipsum is an award-winning staple of the core lineup at Calgary’s Annex Ale Project. While its name refers to the classic "filler text" used in design, the beer itself is anything but an afterthought. It was crafted to prove that an Amber Ale can be both complex and refreshing, successfully bridging the gap between old-school malt traditions and modern hop profiles. Its technical excellence has been recognized with significant accolades, including Gold at the 2024 Canadian Brewing Awards for North American Style Amber/Dark Lager.
Beer Description
This Amber Ale pours a deep, radiant copper-to-ruby red with a frothy, off-white head and excellent clarity.
Aroma: It features a sophisticated balance between sweet and sharp. The nose is led by toasted bread and rich caramel malts, which are brightened by a distinct citrusy pop and a hint of pine from the use of Citra hops.
Palate: On the tongue, it is surprisingly light and crisp for its color. It leads with flavors of biscuit, toffee, and caramelized sugar, which are quickly cut by a refreshing wave of grapefruit and tropical fruit. It avoids the heavy, cloying sweetness often associated with ambers, finishing clean and dry.
Profile: It has an ABV of 5.5% and a moderate bitterness that provides structure without overwhelming the delicate malt notes.
Technical Notes: Brewed with a blend of light and dark malts alongside roasted barley to achieve its deep, characteristic hue and toasted flavor profile. The inclusion of Citra, a hop typically reserved for IPAs, provides a modern, aromatic "lift" that makes this beer remarkably sessionable and unique within its style category.
