Amatitena Tequila Anejo
Amatiteña Tequila Añejo is an ultra-premium, additive-free spirit produced in the town of Amatitán, Jalisco a region recently designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site for its deep-rooted agave history. It is produced at Cava de Oro (NOM 1477) under the guidance of 5th-generation Master Tequilero Alberto Partida. The brand is distinguished by its commitment to "ancestral" methods, including the rare use of mesquite-wood-fired stone ovens, which imparts a unique smoky profile more commonly found in mezcal than modern tequila.
Spirit Description
Amatiteña Añejo is crafted from 100% Blue Weber agave and aged for 12 months specifically in American oak barrels previously used for Napa Valley red wine. This choice of cask creates a sophisticated balance between agave terroir and vinous barrel influence.
Aroma: A rich and indulgent bouquet featuring fresh glazed donuts, smoked apricots, dried cherries, and caramelized agave, with subtle hints of tobacco leaf and cacao.
Palate: Bold and confectionary yet lean. It offers flavors of vanilla, caramel cream, and black walnut, layered with dried fruits like candied plum and cherry.
Body & Texture: Smooth as silk and decadent, with a viscous, "chewy" mouthfeel.
Finish: Long and satisfying, marked by sweet agave, oak tannins, and a lingering trail of baking spices like cinnamon and clove.
Technical Details: Bottled at a slightly higher-than-average 42% ABV (84 proof).
